Rome – Philipp Grushko, Founding Partner at SD Capital and Board Member at TIS, spoke at the panel “Connecting Europe: Ukraine’s Path to Transport Integration” during URC2025 in Rome.
URC (Ukraine Recovery Conference) is a high-level annual gathering of government leaders, international financial institutions, and global business to mobilize policy and investment for Ukraine’s recovery and European integration – making it a pivotal forum for decisions that shape reconstruction and growth.

“Ukraine’s logistics have been stress-tested by war, but they are ready for the future,” Grushko said. He outlined how Ukraine’s maritime logistics have evolved over three years of full-scale war and emphasized the role seaports and intermodal transport will play in Europe’s transport system going forward.
According to Grushko, seaports have been – and remain – the critical link connecting Ukraine’s economy to global markets, especially for agricultural exports. “Ports are and will remain the backbone that connects Ukraine with the world,” he noted, adding that strengthening maritime capacity is essential for resilient global supply chains.
Grushko also highlighted intermodal transport as a defining global trend that Ukraine is actively advancing. In his assessment, intermodal services could account for up to 30% of Ukraine’s exports in the near future, improving network efficiency, cutting transit times, and deepening integration with European corridors.
More broadly, the recovery of Ukraine’s logistics was one of the headline themes at URC2025 – discussed not only as infrastructure, but as a growth engine that underpins the economy, reinforces global food security, and accelerates Ukraine’s integration into the common European space.
