Superhumans Center — which provides free prosthetics, rehabilitation, reconstructive surgery, and psychological support to those affected by the war in Ukraine — has received $25 million in political (war) risk insurance from the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
This marks the first time a Ukrainian non-profit organization, unaffiliated with the state, has received such a level of insurance coverage from DFC. The decision gives private donors confidence that their contributions are secure.
DFC is one of the few institutions in the world capable of offering political risk insurance to Ukrainian companies and charitable organizations during wartime. DFC’s total portfolio in Ukraine now exceeds $1 billion and includes not only insurance, but also debt financing, equity investments, and technical assistance.
“DFC’s decision is a message of support for both international and Ukrainian investors. It shows that project implementation in Ukraine is possible and has international backing,” said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy and Superhumans Center have already signed a partnership agreement to support the reintegration of veterans into civilian life and promote their involvement in entrepreneurship.
Political risk insurance from a strong U.S. partner is a vital market signal — one that affirms international trust in Ukrainian civil society initiatives and businesses, even in times of war.
